Car Accidents in Maryland
Auto accidents in Maryland can take place due to various circumstances. Some of the most common factors influencing collisions include:Impairment: A significant number of people are injured in auto wrecks where one or more drivers are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Being impaired can affect your ability to see other vehicles sharing the road and respond in time to avoid a crash.
Distraction: We see thousands of people hurt each year in crashes caused by motorists who are on their phones. Talking, texting, and browsing social media are actions best performed while not operating a vehicle. Additional accidents occur due to drivers who are distracted by food and other people in their vehicles.
Speeding: Even though every road in our state has a posted speed limit, we continue to see countless people hurt in wrecks caused by drivers who travel beyond the limits of the road.
These acts of negligence, as well as many others, continue to harm people across our state. Many people who are hurt in accidents are left with serious injuries like:
- Broken bones or compound fractures
- The loss of limbs
- Spinal cord injuries (in some cases paralyzing)
- Brain injuries that require extensive medical care
