Columbia, MD – Four Injured in Auto Wreck on Snowden River Parkway & Snowden Square Dr
Columbia, MD (January 13, 2022) – Just before 6 p.m., on January 12, the Howard County Police responded to a report of a man at a shopping center located in the 6500 block of Dobbin Road. Upon arriving at the scene, crews located a man trying to break into several vehicles in the lot.
As the police approached the man, he fled the scene in a vehicle. The vehicle passed through the intersection of Snowden River Parkway and Snowden Square Drive at a high rate of speed. As he entered the intersection, his vehicle broadsided an SUV.
The SUV, which was occupied by two adults and a minor child, suffered moderate damage. The three occupants were seriously injured. All three victims in the SUV were transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the fleeing vehicle was transported to Shock Trauma.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation by the Howard County Police.
Our thoughts are with the four victims who suffered injuries as a result of this collision. We hope for a timely recovery for them all.
Car Accidents in Maryland
When vehicles are speeding down the roadway, they are likely to cause severe damage to anything they come in contact with. As vehicles rush through intersections without obeying traffic control devices, they place the lives of others at serious risk of being harmed. Regrettably, the majority of broadside collisions take place at intersections throughout the state of Maryland.T-bone accidents, especially those involving SUVs, are more likely to roll over due to their high center of gravity. T-bone accidents can result in severe injuries and often forced victims into area hospitals. Some common injuries that victims of broadside crashes are left with include:
- Compound fractures that require casting and therapy
- Spinal cord injuries that result in some degree of paralysis
- Traumatic brain injuries that cause mental, emotional, and physical suffering
- Neck injuries that can limit a victim’s range of motion and their ability to lift
