Montgomery County, MD – Five Injured in MVA on I-270 near Exit 9-10
Montgomery County, MD (January 28, 2022) – Several victims were transported to nearby hospitals after a crash involving several vehicles took place in Montgomery County during the early morning hours on January 27. Right before 3 a.m., the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services were called to a crash on Interstate 270.
Reports from MCFRS show that a collision with several vehicles occurred on the northbound side of Interstate 270. Several overturned vehicles were located along the roadway near Exits 9-10. The vehicles had multiple patients inside.
A hazardous materials team was requested to provide assistance on-site due to a fuel spill from one of the semi-trucks involved. The truck reportedly overturned and spilled fuel on the roadway.
Five people were transported to local hospitals for the treatment of injuries. One of the victims suffered serious injuries but the condition of the other four is not known.
The police in Montgomery County assisted firefighters at the scene as they worked for nearly three hours to clear the vehicles and debris.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash.
