North Bethesda, MD (February 9, 2022) – A three-vehicle crash in North Bethesda ended in injuries, according to the Montgomery County Police Department. MCPD was requested at the scene of a crash on Interstate 495 just before 5:45 p.m., on February 8.

Police and firefighters with the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services secured the outer loop of the Interstate 495 Beltway between River Road and Old Georgetown Road. The incident caused delays by mile marker 37 that lasted for an extended period.

One of the vehicles rolled over as a result of the crash. The vehicle blocked the roadway, causing more delays in the area.

Medics provided treatment to victims while at the scene of the crash. At least one victim harmed in the accident was transported to a nearby medical hospital for treatment.

The Montgomery County police are investigating the incident.

Our thoughts are with the crash victims who suffered injuries.

Car Accidents in Maryland

Although vehicles roll over in nearly 3% of all crashes that result in serious injuries, nearly 30% of fatal accidents involve at least one vehicle that overturns. When vehicles roll over during crashes, the chances of being severely hurt are increased substantially.

Vehicles roll over and trap occupants inside. Firefighters will then have to spend precious time extricating victims. This dramatically increases how long it takes for victims to receive adequate medical care. When victims are severely injured, time is of the essence. Any amount of wasted time can increase the chances of a person passing away from their injuries or suffering irreversible harm.

Being hurt in a crash can have both immediate and long-term impacts on a person’s life. Immediately, victims will be forced to endure painful injuries and medical care. Victims not only deal with the mental and physical consequences but being unable to work can be difficult to deal with financially. Covering towering medical bills can seem impossible.
