Rockville, MD – Three Workers Trapped after Trench Collapse on Veirs Dr near Lakewood County Club
Rockville, MD (July 22, 2022) – Emergency calls in Montgomery County were called to the scene of a major workplace accident in which three people became trapped in a trench that collapsed.
Investigations show that at around two p.m., a partial or dirt collapse occurred near Lakewood County club in the 9600 block of Veirs Drive three at the scene, three crew members who were working at the site fell into the trench and became trapped.
The Maryland state police in the Maryland County Fire & Rescue Services responded to the scene to aid in the removal of the three trapped workers.
Two of the workers were able to be pulled quickly from the trench. A third worker was buried up to the waist and required more time for removal.
Once removed from the trench, the worker was flown to a local hospital for the treatment of traumatic injuries and heat exposure.
The police are currently investigating the incident.
